First, I like to thank everyone for coming and racing. Also, for all those who stayed on Saturday night, and I hope that everyone had a great time. Finally, for those who came into town to help me run the regatta.
Regatta Highlights:Well the breeze was very light and shifty. We had some races where it shifted a 180 degrees and went right back. In all, we got twelve races total, six in A and six in B. UT sailed an excellent regatta, and took low point in A and B.

Thanks to all teams that participated. Special thanks to Texas A&M and Baylor for bringing extra boats to allow a fleet of seven. There were many new faces on the racecourse--congratulations to new team members who had their first opportunity competing at this event. The district also welcomes Kansas State University, competing for the first time in many, many years. With the leadership of grad student Vlasta Kunc (Czech Republic), the team is re-emerging.
Weather was far from frozen. (This event used to be held in early November.) Sunny and a high of about 95. Wind started out south-ish at 5-8 until about noon, then decreased to very light and variable (0-5) for the rest of the day. Eight races sailed in each division, all courses windward-leeward. Close racing, no protests.

There were 8 races sailed in each division and the weather was perfect. Wind at around 15 knots with higher gusts and mostly sunny skies. There were a few showers in the area, but none affected the racing. Courses were triangles, windward-lewards and modified Olympics. Congratulations to Bruce for winning all eight races in the mens division and to Lacy for winning the Womens division. And thanks to Shannon for coming up from Galveston to drive the committe boat. He really helped us out.

The 2000 Sloop Qualifier was held at Bay-Waveland YC in Flying Scots. The breeze was steady at 8-12 knots out of the south. Seven races were completed for a full rotation.

Cold pretty much sums up the day. KU team members chipped ice out of the bottom of the boats in the morning while rigging the boats. The day was sunny, with a fair amount of breeze, about a steady 10 out of the northwest, but very very gusty. Several unhappy sailors spent some time in the lake wishing they had a dry suit. We put six boats on the line, one was a team comprised of one KU member, one Baylor member and two UT members. This team was never scored. Additionally because of a break down of a new boat in the third A team race, the remainder of the second Kansas team's scores were not recorded, and several people were from other teams were rotated in and out to give everyone a chance to sail.

Light winds dominated the Navy Fall. On Saturday racing started in a 3 kt NW'ly and finished in a 2 to 5 kt sea breeze. Four races were sailed. Sunday the four kt NW'ly stayed until 1230 and four more races were sailed. A very light sea breeze came in during lunch and one more race was completed. All racing was done in the river with the usually amount of motorboat traffic.

The weather could be summed up in a word - WET! We completed 16 races in rainy & stormy conditions; 13 on Saturday in 5-8 kts. which fizzled out in the afternoon, and 3 races on Sunday in 8-12 kts. A team racing practice session was cancelled following the event due to lightning and generally miserable weather. It hasn't rained here in months, seems it was waiting for the regatta. Thanks to all teams who came long distance, it was good racing.
