FAQ
When
will I find out if my abstract has been accepted?
Abstracts
are read in late January and early February, and notification will be
e-mailed by mid-late February. If you have not received any notice about
the status of your paper by the beginning of March, please don't hesitate
to contact the conference co-chairs. Since SALSA has to reject so many
submissions each year, the rejection emails are sometimes interpreted
as trash by some email browsers becasue of the large number of email
addresses in the bcc field.
What
is the acceptance rate for SALSA?
We
received 140 abstracts for SALSA 12, 82 for SALSA 13, and 71 for SALSA
16. Generally, SALSA accepts between 20 and 25 papers each year. The
acceptance rate ranges between 20-30%. SALSA also selects 2 alternate
papers. Alternates are expected to attend the conference and to be prepared
to present if a last minute drop-out occurs. Alternates will have their
papers included in the proceedings regardless of whether they present
or not.
When
will the proceedings be available?
The
conference proceedings take several months to prepare after the papers
are submitted. Usually, proceedings for any given year are completed
and published early the next year. Presenters who would like their papers
to be considered for the proceedings must submit a copy by June 1st
of the conference year.
Are
the proceedings peer-reviewed?
SALSA proceedings are reviewed for style and coherence by the co-chairs
before publication to the website. In order to be accepted for publication,
the co-chairs may request that revisions be made to the papers. Given
the interdisciplinary nature of the conference (and consequently the
co-chairs), the proceedings are not necessarily reviewed by specialists
in the author's field.
