San Jacinto Residence Hall Association
San Jacinto Hall is the newest dorm on the University of Texas campus. It is composed of two five story towers housing a total of 866 residents. The north tower opened in August 2000, and was shortly folloewd by the south tower in January 2001. The hall is located in the south west corner of campus, across the street from the stadium, next to Jester Center, and between Gregory Gym and the Recreational Center.
Security: Cameras are scattered around the main floors and entrances, the front desk is open and working 24 hours a day, and towers can only be accessed by a resident's Student ID (as well as entrance to the dorm itself past midnight).
Study Areas: Each floor of San Jacinto has 2-3 study lounges, as well as the main formal lounge ("Leather Lounge") located on the first floor.
Entertainment: A furnished game room, kitchen, and TV lounge (bring your own dvd/vhs player) are located on the ground floor. There is also a grand piano on the first floor formal lounge. Also on the ground floor are a large laundry room (30 washers and dryers) and the Cypress Bend dining facility. Outside there is an amphitheater, and Clark Field, a popular physical activity area surrounded by a half mile track.
Community: The most important part of San Jacinto Hall is its community. There is always a program or activity planned where residents can get to know each other and their Resident Assistant. There are two RAs on each floor who are ready to answer any and all questions and provide as much helpful information as possible. By creating a positive environment can only come positive things, and thanks to the wonderful staff, a friendly and helpful atmosphere has been established and maintained.
