The SECL Committee is composed of appointed representatives from nine student organizations: Friar Society, Mortar Board, Orange Jackets, Texas Spirits, Silver Spurs, Texas Cowboys, Texas Blazers, Student Government, and three representatives from the Cabinet of College Councils.  At this time there are eighteen members of the SECL Committee.

The SECL Committee is responsible for the nomination and selection of speakers, fundraising, advertising, security, hospitality and all other programming aspects of the speaking engagement. A chairperson or co-chairs oversee all SECL Committee operations.

A representative to the President of the University from the Office of the Dean of Students also advises the committee. The SECL Advisor serves as the liaison between the Committee and UT-Austin administrators. He or she is not involved in the actual programming of the event, except in an advisory capacity, but does facilitate relationships with external parties and negotiate contracts on behalf of the organization.
