Thursday, May 3, 2007 – SIA held the 2 nd annual release ceremony to celebrate the completion of the second issue of the Muslim Voices magazine. The event started with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an. Then, this year's Muslim Voices Editor in Chief Azhar Sheraze shared his team's experiences of working on the project and the vision behind the magazine. Afterwards, a few of the authors and contributors shared their work from the magazine. The event ended with magazine distribution, as the attendees enjoyed desserts and snacks. Muslim Voices magazine project was started about two years ago by SIA to provide a platform to UT Muslim students to express themselves and connect with each other as well as to inform the general readers about the expressions and experiences of Muslims in the West. Since then, we have published two issues of the magazine and distributed over a 1000 copies on the UT campus and across Austin, as well as throughout the nation via an online version of the magazine. We hope that this publication will allow Muslims to present their views and concerns to the greater community, as well as serve as a means to connect Muslims on campus.
