Friday, February 24, 2006 - SIA invited the UT community for a lecture-talk event, discussing the controversy of the Danish Caricatures depicting Islam and its personalities in a demeaning manner, Islam's take on freedom of speech, and what place spirituality should have in our society.
Molana Sulayman Hassan, a scholar currently studying Islamic sciences in Qum, Iran had spoke at UT last year about Imam Hussain: The Ideals of Human Dignity and Justice. He spoke impressively at this semester's talk over the Danish Characatures controversy.
The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Molana Sulayman then gave an introductory speech, and then invited questions from the audience.
