  Muslim Voices Release Ceremony
The release of a Muslim Literary magazine at UT

Wednesday, May 3, 2006 - Last year, SIA began the Muslim Voices magazine project to provide a platform to UT Muslim students to express themselves and connect with each other and to inform the general readers about the expressions and experiences of Muslims in the West. The ceremony was to celebrate the release of the first issue of Muslim Voices, a Muslim Literary magazine at UT.

The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Then, an introductory speech was given by the Muslim Voices editor-in-chief Aiman Janmohamed. Afterwards, authors and contributors shared their thoughts regarding the magazine and their shared pieces. The event ended with cake and refreshments. Everyone made sure to get their copy of the first issue of the magazine before heading out the door.

Inshallah, the start of this publication will allow Muslims to present their views and concerns to the greater community, as well as serve as a means to connect Muslims on campus. If you are interested in contributing to the magazine with your photography, written work, or any creative piece you have, check out www.siawareness.org/MuslimVoices!
