2006-2007 SURGe Officer Elections
Voting for the 2006 - 2007 SURGe officers will take place April 18th to April 21st. To be placed on the ballot, you must meet certain requirements. Before you submit your intent, be sure to look over the officer duties below, where you also have a chance to see who is running for each position.

- Must be member of SURGe with a minimum of 8 pts or a committee member

Duties and Responsibilities
President

Vice President

- In charge of coordinating SURGe's outside activities: GTT, Longhorn Halloween, SURF, Explore UT, ESI, etc.
- Help with coordinating "fun" socials and other ice-breakers ideas
- NSC representative to SURGe
Treasurer
[Candidates: Toral Parikh, Roxanna Honapour, Faiza Chohan]
- Order pizza for SURGe meetings & buy cokes
- Give out reimbursement checks
- Apply for Funding for our events
- Keep expenses and income in line and regularly report
- Evaluate our spending on fellowships, t-shirts and research interest awards based on savings
PR Committee Head

- Make flyers
- Hand them out, post them on buildings and kiosks
- Head up PR committee and host weekly PR meetings
- Put flyers in faculty boxes
Research Shadowing Committee Head

- Coordinate on-campus research tours
- Keep track of tour survey and have people sign up on Eureka
- Try to coordinate some off-campus research tours

Historian

- Document activities of SURGe
- Photographs
- Short summary that accompanies photos from every meeting to be posted on website
Secretary

- Co-chair the Outreach Committee in charge of information sessions with Student Liasion
- Take notes during officer meetings
- List serv email to members about weekly meetings
- Deal with weekly meeting attendance through online attendance system
Student Liasion

- Find student speakers when necessary for weekly meetings and SURF
- Co-chair the Outreach Committee with Secretary
Faculty Liasion

- Find faculty speakers for all SURGe events
Fundraising Committee Head

- Keep up greenhouse
- Sell plants and t-shirts at weekly plant sales and semesterly plant sales
