To unite the University of Texas at Austin community (students, faculty, staff, administration, and alumni) through an event steeped in tradition; to unite a diverse set of student organizations and individual performers via a campus-wide talent showcase, featuring the best talent the University has to offer; to provide student volunteers experience with event planning, stage management and public relations.
Although the history of the show is somewhat hazy, legend holds that the idea of a large, inter-organization variety show dates back to the Spring Roundup Weekend in the 1950s.
However, like many other campus events, Revue did not make it through the turmoil of the '60s, and the tradition was lost.
In 1995, members of the UT leadership Board brought the tradition back and officially named it Texas Revue. Held in Hogg Auditorium, the first Revue featured 14 student organizations presenting a wide variety of dance, music, and skit acts as part of a competition.
The evening was a great success, and the tradition was revived.
Since 1995, the audience for Texas Revue has doubled each year, leading the committee to constantly seek out larger and larger venues. In April of 1998, the show was expanded into a two-night event, both indoor and outdoor. Texas Revue 2005 seeks to uphold the success of prior shows, and bring the "Student Showcase" experience to an even broader audience.

Student votes will be accumulated as the seventh (7th) judge and will be taken into consideration before awards given out on Saturday. The six (6) other judges will be present on Saturday. Together, the student votes and the judges' votes will determine awards for Texas Revue.
