Acts audition in the spring and compete for a spot on Texas Revue. In the past, the show has included a variety of talents including dancing, music, and skits from individual performers, organizations, and student groups. From social to service, from cultural to professional, the diverse energy that brings students together shines on stage during Texas Revue. Below are the acts for 2005 in the order they will be performing (read from right to left):
Dirty South Dandiya
Dirty South Dandiya fuses the talents of 18 Longhorns from the University of Texas with a punch of Southern flavor. This team mixes modern day beats while keeping it real with traditional Raas music. Their blends of fresh dance styles bring a kickin' show that you will never forget. After days of grueling tryouts and months of preparation under their regulating team manager, Dirty South Dandiya has created a bumpin' performance sure to brush the dirty off anyone's shoulders.

The Roustabouts Dance Co.
The Roustabouts are the University of Texas' finest dance company exhibiting high-energy hip hop and stylized jazz routines. They perform at numerous UT spirit events throughout the year including Camp Texas, Gone to Texas, UT v. ATM Hex Rally, Explore UT and Texas Revue along with many other student organization sponsored events. The Roustabouts exhibition at high Drill Team Competitions all across Texas and end the year with an amazing Spring Show in May. The Roustabouts are also a competitive dance company, competing at the Collegiate Nationals in Dallas. The company shares a unique passion for dance that is shown through every member's dedication and desire to be the best. The Roustabouts are more than just a dance company. Matt Schneiderman
Matt Schneiderman has been writing songs for years in the quiet reserve of his room. In 2004, he made his first appearance on stage at the UT Singer-Songwriter Contest. Matt won the contest and earn a slot at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Since then, he's used his webspace, mattschneiderman.com, and live shows around Austin as vehicles for his music, showcasing an expanding catalog and a performance style that speaks for itself. His first CD, "Who is Matt Schneiderman?" was released in March.

The Undergraduate Business Council
The Undergraduate Business Council (UBC) is a representative student organization for undergraduates at the McCombs School of Business. For nearly 50 years, it has served as a link to enhance the relationship between BBAs, the faculty, and the administration. Today UBC continues that trend, and additionally, it vocalizes and advocates undergraduate business student issues to the administration.
Business Council can't wait to show their stuff off in "UT Update" -- bringing you the top news stories from around the University. From The Real World to SG elections to the turtle pond, Business Council shows you that being a business major isn't just about balance sheets and number crunching...it's also about dancing. Open Source
Adam and Averille met while studying at the University of Texas at Austin. Their love for the arts has brought them closer together and has given them a medium to express their deepest feelings. The original piece "Away" was written as one's attempt to escape from the feelings of depression, and it represents the various emotional battles that were fought in the process. "Open Source" was formed with the intention of sharing these feelings and experiences in hope that others who are going though, or have experienced, similar problems could find a way to reach out and ask for help.

HUM A-Cappella
UT Hum comes together pleasing audiences with its unique sounds of Hindi and English a cappella with both male and female vocalists. Consisting of performers with varying musical experiences and tastes, Hum incorporates many genres of musical style by flexing both its musical technique and lively stage presence. Starting at the University of Texas at Austin, and utilizing the largest population of college students in the nation, Hum has expanded from six founding members to a talented group of fifteen performers that come together with the sole purpose of making great music. Through the journey, Hum has evolved to be a close knit group of friends making performances a unified and enjoyable effort. Performances range from casual campus performances to formal weddings with an adaptable musical repertoire to cover many events. With the debut of Hum's first album, "One Try," and a large following, Hum looks at years of thrilling performances in the future.

Chinese Yo-Yo Club
The Chinese Yo Yo Club has become well known throughout UT campus and in the Austin community. This year has become one of our busiest years with many invitations to perform at local schools, cultural events, and even talent shows. As a club, we think of new ways to make each show outdo the last, such as adding more complex tricks and choreography intricate styles. We never limit ourselves with a traditional performance or stop at difficult tricks. Our common goal is to learn more tricks and to improve our skills on stage, but we enjoy teaching others more than anything. Come find out and we'll show you how to start. You just might find out you have a hidden talent.

Cherie & the OA Band
Cherie & the OA Band is a recently formed group of talented Orientation Advisors featuring Cherie Rivero as lead vocalist, Pamela Okeke as guest singer and back-up vocalist, Sarah Ralph as back-up vocalist, Daniel Palma as back-up vocalist, George Nguyen on piano, John Stecker on bass guitar, and Nicholas Harmon on drums. Cherie & Pamela performed together last year in The University Co-op presents: Texas Revue 2004. This year, the group will be performing two Mariah Carey songs: "Emotions" and "I'll be There."

Alyson Weber
Alyson Weber started baton twirling at the age of five in her hometown, Corpus Christi, Texas. Over the past 16 years, she has performed at numerous venues such as Disney World, the Statue of Liberty, and at Texas Stadium for a Dallas Cowboys pre-game show. In 2003, she was selected to represent the United States in Peru as a baton twirling ambassador. This pas summer, she won two gold medals at the AAU National Junior Olympics. She is the 2004 NBTA Collegiate Twirl Champion and the 2003 and 2002 College Miss Majorette of Texas. Most recently, Alyson competed in the first Intercollegiate 2-Baton and 3-Baton. Alyson currently teaches baton twirling at the Austin Parks and Recreation center. Her dream is to see baton twirling recognized as an Olympic and NCAA sport. Alyson is a Radio-TV-Film senior and plans to graduate in the summer.

Potheads
It's not what you think...it's much, MUCH worse. Originally a brainchild of creative genii Anthony Smith and Brad Matherne, this Stomp-inspired show was written to be performed at a high school percussion concert. Since its introduction at the University of Texas at The University Co-op presents: Texas Revue 2002, the Potheads' high-energy performances have been exciting audiences at numerous events, including Gone to Texas, StudyBreaks Fashion Show, and Forty Acres Fest.

STEEL Dance Company
STEEL Dance Company, founded in May 2001 by two former UT students, unites a group of ambitious dancers who are dedicated to fostering an energetic and high-powered professional jazz dance company to benefit the UT and Austin communities. SDC displays an eclectic style of dance to accentuate the diversity of the company; while the company focuses on jazz and lyrical, SDC accents their performances with Fosse-style song and dance, hip-hop, and ballet. Regardless of the genre, SDC dancers always combine their strong technical background with their entertaining and electrifying dynamics. SDC appeals to anyone who thrives on exciting, high-quality dance. Embarking upon our fourth season understand leadership of Artistic Director Amanada Booth and General Manager Lizzie Gendler, SDC hopes to continue to shower both UT and Austin with its unique and exuberant style and pus the boundaries of dance physically, mentally, and thematically.

Skyler Rogers
Skyler Rogers has been playing the guitar for over 12 years. His appreciation for classical music has been with him for his entire life, and he especially enjoys Spanish classical music from which his draws his inspiration. Skyler has been performing music at events for a number of years now, and, though he is not a music major, he would love to keep music close to him and continue performing in the future. This year, Skyler would like to showcase the fast tempo and beautiful rhythms found in many Spanish songs as well as other traditional favorites in his act.

The Vietnamese Students Association
The Vietnamese Students Association aims to enhance the understanding of the Vietnamese culture among UT students through community service, social, and cultural events. It currently boasts 200 members whose dedication and enthusiasm are the driving forces behind the organization. VSA serves the community of Austin by participating in a Vietnamese after-school program tutoring children at Walnut Creek Elementary. VSA gives back to its members and UT students by providing Vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts) lessons and Vietnamese language classes weekly.
Recently, VSA is becoming more widely known for its performances and is often referred to as the "VSA dance troupe." VSA has appeared at numerous functions such as the Asian American Business Symposium, featuring Lisa Ling, and the 26th Annual Asian Olympics. This year's performance is the tale of Westside Story, portrayed through dance battles and Vovinam Martial Arts. All of the participants unite with the common goal of entertaining and having fun.
