Committees
The Division of Housing and Food constantly seeks out the feedback from residents, and URHA's committees is one way we provide feedback for them. Members of these committees shape residence hall policies, affect changes in the resident living experience, or bring new and exciting programs to our campus.
There are currently four committees that are open to residents. Students who live on-campus, are interested in representing their fellow residents, and want to see their ideas and suggestions heard and followed are strongly encouraged to apply to serve on one of these committees.
Committee Chairs
- Need 1 committee chair per committee (except H&FAC)
- Responsibilities include:
- arranging meeting time/place
- reminding committee members of meetings
- tracking attendance
Food Committee
- Besides residents, the committee includes:
- DHFS Food division Associate Director, Scott Meyer
- DHFS nutritionist
- DHFS venue (Cypress Bend, JCL, etc.) managers
- DHFS chefs
- Committee members bring to the meeting their suggestions, ideas, and complaints about anything and everything related to food in DHFS-operated venues.
- At each meeting, DHFS almost always provides some new food or drink item they are considering adding to the menus in their venues (which means free food for committee members).
Resident Experience Committee
- Covers anything and everything relating to the life of a resident
- Designed to brainstorm new and plausible solutions to existing “resident experience” problems
- After selecting a topic to try to find a new solution for, the committee will make a formal write-up detailing the perceived “problem” and outlining the proposed “solution”, and then the committee will present this report to DHFS. Our hope is that policies are shaped and changed as a direct result of the efforts of this committee.
- Topic examples: changes to the guest policy, a need for more laundry rooms, advertisements in residence halls, altering the Dine-In Dollars meal plan, bringing a video rental service inside a residence hall, the judicial process for residents who break hall rules, etc.
- Meets at 7:45 PM every other Monday (before the URHA Senate meetings)- J2
Housing and Food Advisory Committee
- Made up of
- (2) faculty/staff,
- (5) residents,
- (2) DHFS staff members,
- (1) representative from the Dean of Students
- (1) student from Student Government
