Come near to God, and he will
come near to you. God's Word concerning...
Each [one] has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.
Acceptance ( top )
All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will
never drive away. Accept him whose
faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters.
Your attitude should be the very same as that of Christ Jesus. Who being in very
nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made
himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant being made in human
likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became
obedient to death- even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the
highest place and gave him the name that is above every name. Do
everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and
pure, children of God without fault. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,
neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of
God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. "Though the
mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will
not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has
compassion on you. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent his Son as
an atoning sacrifice for our sins. When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision
of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our
sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against
us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. From the fullness of his grace, we have all received one blessing after
another. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile- the same Lord is Lord of
all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, Everyone who calls on the name
of the Lord will be saved. Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the
sinner. Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in
purity. Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the Lord delivers him in times of
trouble. The Lord will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in
the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes. The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the
least of these brothers of mine, you did it for me. Commitment ( top ) Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
When you make a
vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill
your vow. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart, and wait for the Lord.
He gives strength to the
weary and increases the power of the weak. This is what the Lord says:
"Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good
way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all
without finding fault, and it will be given to him. Discernment ( top ) When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will
not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you
what is yet to come. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil.
God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we say with
confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid." Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to
hear. Drugs and Alcohol ( top )
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the
Spirit. The kingdom of
God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy
in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to
God and approved by men. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to
peace and to mutual edification. Embarrassment ( top ) If you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear
that name. Instead of their shame my people will receive a double portion, and instead of
disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a
double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs. Encouragement ( top ) Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the
righteous fall. My soul is downcast within me. Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have
hope: Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions
never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say
to this mountain, "Move from here to there" and it will move. Nothing will be
impossible for you. Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming
arrows of the evil one. Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have,
because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
Honor the Lord with your wealth, and the first fruits of all your crops; then
your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new
wine. Forgiveness ( top ) Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one
another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins
and purify us from all unrighteousness. Friendship ( top ) Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above
yourselves.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the
Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a
future." As it is written:
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him"-- but God has revealed it to us by
his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me
heavenward in Christ Jesus. God's Will ( top )
Jesus said, "Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and
sister and mother.'" And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is
helpful for building others up. If anyone
speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.
Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus
our Lord. He said to me, "My
grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that
Christ's power may rest on me. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the
end. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show
integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so
that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say
about us. Love... rejoices with the truth.
The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing
love. Hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our
hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of
heaven. Do nothing out of
selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than
yourselves. You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging
to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness
into his wonderful light. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which
God prepared in advance for us to do. Justification ( top ) God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become
the righteousness of God. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with
your mouth that you confess and are saved. Loneliness ( top ) God
said, "I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go... I will not leave
you until I have done what I have promised you." Jesus replied,
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your mind." Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who
loves has been born of God and knows God.
How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. You, man of God...
pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it
is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. The man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and
continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it- he will be
blessed in what he does. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Peer Pressure ( top ) See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive
philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this
world rather than on Christ. Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please
men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Perseverance ( top ) Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when has stood the test,
he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a
harvest if we do not give up. Jesus said,
"For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself
will be exalted." This is what the Lord says:
"Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the
strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches but let him
who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the
Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I
delight," declares the Lord. Priorities ( top ) Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be
given to you as well. Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep
his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king for
his friend. Keep yourself pure.
Restoration ( top )
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has
come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave
us the ministry of reconciliation. The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you
have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong,
steadfast, and firm. He saved us, not because of righteous things that we had done, but because of
his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy
Spirit. If you confess with your mouth,
"Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that
God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them
out of my hand. Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the
righteous fall. Self-Control ( top ) Then
Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny
himself and take up his cross and follow me." Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is
willing, but the body is weak. Self-Worth ( top ) Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall on the
ground apart from the will of the Father. And even the very hairs of your head
are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are
wonderful, I know that full well.
The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for
the body. It is God's will that you should be sanctified; that you should avoid sexual
immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that
is holy and honorable... and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother
or take advantage of him... For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a
holy life.
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.
You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts
in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord is the Rock eternal.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
May he give you
the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. Temptation ( top ) God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.
But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand
up under it. Because Jesus himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those
who are being tempted. Thankfulness ( top ) Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ
Jesus. Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures
forever.
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God's will is- his good, pleasing, and perfect will. Finally brothers,
whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or
praiseworthy- think about such things.
Jesus said, 'In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have
overcome the world. We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces
perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Jesus
answered, ''I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through me." All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are
all one in Christ Jesus. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts
have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is
to be praised. Your beauty should not come from outward adornments, such as braided hair and
the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your
inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great
worth in God's sight. Diligent hands bring wealth.
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you
nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. But seek
first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to
you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry
about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. |
