On behalf of BSA (Black Students Alliance), HAA (Hispanic Affairs Agency), and Orange Jackets, we would like to invite you to the 2nd Annual BSA Student Government Campaign Debate on Monday, February 24th at 8 pm in Welch 2.246. Come listen to each tickets' platforms as well as their answers to student concerns and issues. We will also be sharing the new method of voting. Last year's debate was a success and we would like to see this year's Vote Smart 2003: A Candidates' Debate be just as successful.

This is your very last opportunity to get a chance to ask these candidates questions. Don't miss out!

UT Watch plans on being there, tabling, fliering, petitioning, and asking all the right (wrong) questions. Please attend... It is important that they see that students are serious about this issue, and it might be our last chance to press them in person on tuition deregulation.
Who Is Jim Holt?

The absurdist play Who Is Jim Holt? is running for one more weekend. Who Is Jim Holt is an absurdist and offensive comedy loosely based on the novel Atlas Shrugged.

The Get Up Stand Up Rally for our Rights

This Sunday from 2-5pm The Get Up Stand Up Rally for our Rights convention will be happening at the Tony Burger Center. Renowned speakers and more than 50 non-profits will share their resources and teach specific action steps YOU can take to ensure YOUR voice is heard.

The Vagina Monologues are happening this year on the UT campus Febuary 15, 21, and 22. More info. will be sent out regarding tickets, etc. However, the Alliance for a Feminist Option (AFO) is wanting to sponser a Vagina Monologues Art show and they need art submissions. If you have art portraying women in a powerful manner or you are a woman artist, and wish to submit a piece to their art show, please e-mail feministoption@yahoo.com asap.
Student Government AR 20

Student Government at the University of Texas at Austin today announced that AR 20, Calling for the State of Texas to Repeal the 'Homosexual Conduct' Law (Section 21.06), passed at the January 14 assembly meeting with a 33 to 1 vote. Now that the measure has passed it will be hand-delivered to each legislator in the Texas capitol and will also be forwarded to President Bush, who openly supports the law. Full story here...
Reed College Students Vote Overwhelmingly Against War In Iraq

Reed College students voted overwhelmingly in favor of a referendum opposing a US unilateral or preemptive war against Iraq. The referendum passed with 88% of the vote. The turnout was comparable to or larger than that of other Reed elections, with close to 40% of students voting. The Reed referendum follows anti-war resolutions passed by the student government's of University of Texas Austin and University of California Berkeley. Students around the country are sending a clear message to President Bush that they oppose a unilateral or preemptive war against Iraq. Full resolution text here...
Bruin University Undergraduate Students Association Council passes resolution condemning war with Iraq
