How Can I be a Part of MASA ?

Membership - Membership in MASA will be made official through the payment of dues as set by the VP of Funds.  This amount will generally cover the cost of a T-Shirt and help fund group activities.  All members of MASA are expected to attend all MASA meetings and functions, unless excused by the rules set forth in the constitution.  Please read our constitution and our by-laws to understand the the rules and expectations that members of MASA are held to:

Meetings - Held every Wednesday at 5:00 PM in Parlin 201

Activities - MASA is currently planning and searching for projects to promote our purpose.  As of right now, we are sponsoring a fundraiser / concert to raise funds of SafePlace and our organization. Also we are exploring possible projects with the UT Counseling Center, SafePlace, and the Women's Resource Center.
We also plan to have a large presence during Rape Awareness Week (April 10-17) by perhaps sponsoring a speaker on campus and volunteering with local awareness projects.  The fundraiser will be the week before (April 2) in order to focus attention on Rape Awareness Week.

  Available Officer Positions

Please read the constitution and by-laws for better information about a position's duties and to understand the backbone behind MASA

  • Historian - An ad hoc officer appointed by the president to keep records of MASA accomplishments. Will be responsible for compiling a scrapbook for UT Swing Out competition and other such competitions or events.
  • Political Officer - An ad hoc officer appointed by the president to pay attention to current events and be aware of state, city, campus and any other relevant referendums dealing with issues of sexual assault. When required, the political officer will coordinate and oversee the ad hoc political committee.
  • Representatives - Appointed by the President, representatives will essentially serve as liaisons between MASA and nonMASA campus and community committees. For example, one representative will regularly attend the meetings of the Relationship Violence and Sexual Assault Committee meetings. Representatives will come to officer meetings and relay the contents of the meetings that they have attended. Likewise, they will be responsible for representing MASA's purposes and initiatives at the meetings that they attend.

These positions will be elected the week after Spring Break. If you are interested in being a representative, please see Graham Davis.
