Our Mission:

  • To enhance the understanding of the Vietnamese culture among students and promote awareness to the Austin community.

  • Culture . . .

One of our most important goals is the reinforcement and celebration of Vietnamese heritage. To truly know who we are we must know where we came from. We are Vietnamese people living in a foreign country and the responsibility of keeping our past alive has been thrusted upon us. To uphold our responsiblities every aspect of VSA is emphasized with elements of Vietnamese art, literature, language, history, and music.

    Community . . .

As members of a community we realize the significance of community involvement. By helping others learn and grow we are indeed helping ourselves become better people. We have the power to make a difference. A central focus of our community service has been dedicated to Walnut Creek. Here VSA members aid in special afterschool programs to assist children in their academic, physical, and emotional development. Doing community service allows us to leave a mark in peoples lives.
    --Tony Nguyen, Community Chair

    Leadership . . .

VSA is an institution of national scale. Events such as VSA Convention focus on uniting VSAs all over Texas with the common goal of leadership. Together we aim at building skills to help lead our community and encouraging our members to take an active role in everything they do. We also attend Len Duong, a national leadership camp that teaches team building and community involvement. By taking risks and becoming more involved, our members will be the future leaders of the world.

    Sports . . .

Healthy competition has always been a beneficial tool of our organization. It helps us develop comradery, strengthen discipline, and build trust. As a team we know we are capable of undertaking any challenge, big or small, and accomplishing our common goals.

    Social . . .

We are an establishment built on unity; unity amongst ourselves as well as unity with other organizations on campus. We strive to create lasting friendships through social events that promote member interactions. Doing so helps us recognize the diversity of our members and of the university. We build strong bonds to support the infrastructure of our association.
