Houses of Prayer
Houses of Prayer are groups of believers from different fellowships living in a common
community that commit weekly to pray for, care for, and witness to that community.
At the University of Texas, Houses of Prayer are linked to another program, Yellow Cross,
in which each person involved in a House of Prayer is encouraged to place a yellow cross
on his door and book bag. In this way, believers can recognize and encourage each other,
and non-believers can readily identify those who will love them and pray for them at any
time.
The acronym BLESS is used in prayers:
Body: health, protection, strength
Labor: studies, income, tests, jobs
Emotional: joy, peace, hope
Social: love, family, friends, dating
Spiritual: salvation, faith, conviction
